NFT CrypToadz bought for a record $1.7 million on OpenSea

NFT CrypToadz was bought for a record amount of $1.7 million on the OpenSea platform.

The buyer paid for CrypToadz #4030 1055 Wrapped Ethereum (WETH) token and paid OpenSea a commission of about $42,000. CrypToadz #4030 was the most expensive NFT sold in the last 30 days. The second position is occupied by CryptoPunks #3609, which was valued at $682,747 by a large margin.

The best offer to buy a token from the CrypToadz collection is $940, so it is evident that an OpenSea customer grossly overpaid for CrypToadz #4030. In this regard, members of the crypto community started sharing their guesses about the reasons behind the questionable transaction.

At first, people thought that the buyer mistakenly transferred too many WETH coins to the seller. However, it later turned out that the wallet from which the token was paid for was transferred to the cryptocurrency from the vault that was replenished with the Tornado Cash mixer in September.

In this regard, it can be assumed that the purchase and sale transaction of CrypToadz #4030 was fictitious and pursued a goal related to attracting interest in the NFT collection. 
Also, we cannot exclude the version that the token was purchased to launder illegally obtained income.
